Educational Products
Sun R.A.Y.S., LLC is an educational products and publishing company; the R.A.Y.S. stands for Resources for Active Young Scientists. Ernie Batson, M.A. and Mary Batson, M.Ed. started this company because the products they were using at their school, The Learning House, were extremely durable and useful and they wanted to make these available to schools and child care centers.
Along the way, they started writing books. Their first book, A Handful of Lightning, has received national recognition from Eisenhower National Clearinghouse; a governmental agency collecting Math and Science materials from around the country. This book was featured in a July 2000 issue of Focus, taken on a national tour, and placed in the Capitol building for a year.
The second book, Mary's Alphabet Garden, was written and illustrated by Mary and is based on her backyard garden. Children love this book for the illustrations and teachers appreciate the size of each letter that allows children to see each letter in the alphabet from a distance.
